Pinch harmonic
Definition
An artificial harmonic created when the thumb (or flesh beside the pick) lightly touches the string at a harmonic node at the same moment as the pick stroke.
Why it matters
It is a signature metal lead accent. Location along the string chooses the overtone.
Examples
Squeals on bent notes; accent cries at the end of a phrase over high gain.
